Nothing beats the sheer joy and love that a mother and father have for their new baby. Being able to capture as much joy and love in a photo is my greatest passion. I had the pleasure of capturing the sweetest week old baby girl for this amazing couple. Danny and Brooke welcomes baby Rose into the world in September of 2019. Being their first child, the outpour of love and support they received was indescribable. This sweet girl was the luckiest child as her parents were embarking on their greatest adventure. Learning to be a parent isn't easy. Lack of sleep, balancing your sanity and learning how to be a mom or dad is one crazy ride. But as all parents know, it's all worth it. Rose was just a joy to capture. She was calm and just happy to be in the world. We had such a quick and easy shoot. Here is one BIG thing that makes photographing newborns easy. The prep time before the shoot even begins. When the parents are able to get that baby in the best possible state even before the photographer shows up, that makes for a great first start. Baby is fed. Baby is well rested. Baby is in a familiar environment. Baby is changed. the combination of these will work wonders when taking newborn photos. And boy, did these parents have it figured out!! Yes, there will be accidents during the shoot. Baby will pee or poop (usually during the naked photos) but those are bound to happen. Yes, you may need to feed that baby or we need to take a quick 10 minute pacifier break just to get baby in a good place, but these again are normal. Take the time to set up the scene and do your best to prepare your family for the photoshoot. The better prepared, the better the photos and the less frustrated everyone will be in the end. Congratulations Danny and Brooke on your sweet baby girl. She is an absolute heart stopper and such a sweet little girl. Share your newborn photo stories below!

Benjamin has finally arrived! Born: November 4th, 2017 Time: 6:14pm Measuring: 20.5 inch Weighing: 7lbs. 2oz. The birth story... Over the previous days fallowing Ben's arrival I had been having a lot of contractions but they were very irregular and inconsistent. The morning that I went into labor was like any other day. We had gone grocery shopping and walked most of the afternoon. While we at the store, I had to stop a few times due to the intense contractions I was starting to have. Again, there were not consistent so I didn’t think too much of it. On our way back home I decided that I would take a nap because I was pooped from all that walking. I fell asleep on the couch hard. I slept for about an hour before I woke up and decided to finish our last minute Christmas decorating we were doing before the baby came. As I sat up and got off the couch, I instantly flt a rush of warm water slip all over my pants. At first it felt as if I peed my pants. I was shocked and instantly reached into my pants and saw that the liquid was clear like water. My bug eyes turned to my husband as I laughed and said “uh I think my water just broke!” He looked at me and with a huge grin said “Really?!?” It was GO time… I was surprising really calm. I wanted to make sure this was real so I ran into the bathroom and I sat on the toilet where even more liquid started coming out. We had already had the hospital bag packed and waiting by the door or all I needed to do was change and we could leave. Remaining calm, I got my change of clothes, grabbed my essentials and we were on our way to the hospital. My mom was the first to get the call as it was decided (the night before) that she would be the main contact for everyone in our family. (I didn’t want to be on the phone with everyone while I was in labor). She was so excited and shocked to hear the news. She was on her way to join us at the hospital along with my father. We pulled into our parking spot, grabbed our bags and headed inside. At this point, I did not have nay contractions. I honestly felt really good and was in no pain at all. We both were just so excited and anxious to meet our baby boy. We get into the maternity ward and had to wait for a room to become available. It was about 10 minutes before we go to check into our room where they see how dilated I am. While we were waiting, the contractions instantly kicked in. It was like they came out of nowhere. My contractions went into full swing and I was in intense labor within minutes. I changed into the hospital gown and the nurse came in to get all my vitals. She checked to see how dilated I was and looked at me with big eyes. “ You are 7 cm dilated, we need to get you into labor and delivery right away!” Our journey continued as we were rushed upstairs… My mom and dad were in the hallway waiting to see which room I was going to be in at the time. The nursing staff and my husband all ran with me on the bed out of the check in room up into the labor room. It was like a movie. We were running down the halls! We quickly get into the labor room and my heart is racing. I cannot believe this is all happening so fast. The longer I am laying there, the more intense the contractions. My doctor gets called and we are in business. I am ready to push because by the time we get situated upstairs and my doctor arrived was about 45 minutes. It was time to PUSH already… I went from 7 cm to 10cm in about 1 hour. I pushed for a total of 45 minutes and out came Ben. He was so perfect. My husband cut the cord, and my mom and his mom got to witness the birth of their first grandson. Everything about that entire day was so perfect. Weather was good; it was a Saturday in the evening and the entire world stood still when I got to finally meet my baby boy. It was unreal and hard to describe in words just how much I fell in love with him. Benjamin has changed our entire life and we are so grateful for the wonderful healthy little boy that he is. We could not have had a better experience and we could not have had a more perfect little member of our family. Welcome to the world my boy. Love, Your Mommy & Daddy It's not easy being the youngest sibling. There are so many rules to follow, so many people to look up to and learn from. Then again, it's not easy being the oldest either. There are so many rules to follow, so many people to guide and teach. These two brothers know what it means to be family. Being able to capture their spirits and high energy was a blast.WIth constant movement, these boys were fun to chase and catch them in the best moments. The natural elements of our surrounds intertwined with the natural behaviors of brothers was something worth capturing. There are 3 key ideas to take away from a photo shoot full of high energy. 1. Make sure your camera setting are in the proper place. YOu can use a auto setting like 'No Flash' but you will have less control over lighting, shutter speed and aperture. Depending on the lighting you use for your shoot will determine these settings. For this particular shoot, we were aiming to hit that beautiful golden hour around sunset. Getting those hues of orange and yellow can make a summer or fall photo feel warm and bright. 2. Make sure to keep focus. Not only on your setting is this important, but especially with your subjects. The younger the age, the harder focusing can be. Make sure to pick a setting that is not so distracting (like the zoo) but not so plain that its boring. There needs to be a sweet spot. It is also going to be a struggle to make sure everyone is looking at you at the same time. Having rewards or incentives seems to do the trick with the younger crowds. 3. Make sure parents are out of the shot. A lot of times, parents want to get involved and be apart of the inspiration for their kids. This is a GREAT TOOL. Do not pass this up. Unfortunately, there are times when this can effect the overall photo. Many cases, moms or dads want to step in and fix hair, clothes, or posture. I found that during these times, I have the perfect shot and it gets obscured due to parents entering the frame. Make sure to remind parents to keep their distance and only assist when asked. It is not to offend, but to prevent missing a great moment. Check out more tips, tricks and stories on the blog page. There is nothing like love at first sight. It is a feeling that bubbles up inside and bursts out at the speed of light. It is uncontrollable and can overcome you with happiness and joy.
Krystal and Jon Hanna were a perfect example of a couple who found love at first sight. They introduced the world to a healthy baby boy in July of 2017 named William. His big blue eyes and calm attitude made this particular photo shoot fun and easy. Being only about 3 weeks old, this little peanut had a love for the camera. One of the best things you can do for a newborn photo shoot is feed the baby and have a clean diaper! Most of the time, newborn photos are tricky as the baby has a few different limitations. 1. He/She is probably going to be in a new environment. This means new smells, temperatures and sounds that are unfamiliar. This can cause the baby to be uncomfortable and end up being a bad situation. 2. If not fed or changed, this can cause obvious discomfort. 3. Any medical issues (rash, cold, colicky, sleep etc). will play a factor in how well you can get a good shot in without a grumpy face. 4. Being too hot or too cold is a big one that people tend to forget about. Many trends now a days for photos are having the baby nude. WIthin minutes a baby will let you know if they are too cold or too hot. Make sure to keep some warmed blankets or electric blankets near by. I find that if I am able to out a warm blanket under the scene if materials being used, there will be a happier baby in those shots. For this specific shoot, we were able to have everything line up just right. Yes, the baby may need to feed or be changed in the middle of a session, but that is expected. Having mom or dad near by allowed William to be at his most comfortable. This is how we were able to get some really beautiful shots of this beautiful baby boy. There is nothing like a photo shoot going according to plan. They rarely ever happen, but I can say that this was a great success and that we were able to get a good amount of beautiful moments captured.
The Miracle of Life. The Cravings. The Morning Sickness. The constant urge to pee. The Swollen Feet. The Sore Back. The Baby Bump. Getting the opportunity to capture some amazing moments for this mother to be with her family was a real gift. Being able to see her first daughters reaction to her mommy's tummy that holds her new baby sister was some of the most exciting things to experience. Having an affordable Phoenix Photographer is always nice to have during this time. No stress on time, money or quality. There is nothing like capturing the natural glow of a women who is pregnant. Seeing the love and excitement in there eyes really makes the photos that much for raw and real. So excited to meet this little one in only a few short months! Wishing the mom and family a healthy pregnancy. Life is an absolute crazy place. The many events that take place in our live cannot be capture in 1 single photo or video. Each moment is unique, intense, complicated, and full of unexplainable emotions. Being able to be apart of one of life's most amazing events is something that not even photos can fully express. Most of our lives revolve around memories that come and go. The only things we have to look back on these fading memories are the moments captures through a camera.
Witnessing life coming into this world is something that I have only had the pleasure to see and not experience myself. Watching a mother and her team supporting her to bring life into the world was one of the greatest events I had the pleasure to be apart of. I was given the opportunity to document the entire 19 hours of labor for a family in Glendale, Arizona. My biggest fears for this shoot were incredible high. Would I forget to bring extra batteries? Would the doctors allow me to take the photos? Would I miss the big finally? WOuld something medically go wrong with mom or the baby? SO many things went through my head but the entire time I was documenting, I only thought about 1 thing. Capture the moments that will make the memories of this day last forever. Everything went perfect. Mom and baby did such a great job and the images we were able to capture really expresses the struggles, pain, and joy of a pregnant to delivery. My journey through love is not a really exciting one. For me, I was always surrounded by friends who seemed to be in good healthy relationships. As a teen, I never really had a boy friend that was serious enough to meet the parents.
I was more of the comedian than a girlfriend... When I first met my husband, we were just a couple of kids in high school just waiting to graduate to get away from home. Our first date was nothing too romantic or elegant. (He actually met my parents before he took me out on my first date). Since that night, we have been inseparable. Graduating High School and Collage together was something I never would have thought could happen to me. After all, I was the funny girl in my group. I was fortunate enough to find the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with at such a young age. I understand that this kind of things doesn't happen often. I know that I am very lucky and I didn't have to experience a "bad date". Since that first night, we have experiences an enormous amount of things together. Joy, Love, Sadness, Grief, Stress, Anxiety, Anger, Happiness and so on... All I know is that he is the one person in my life who has taught me decline, strength, perseverance, and the ability to know what love truly means. He is the back bone of why I am who I am and have the desire to constantly better myself. Cheers to you and all that you do for me each and every day. I would honestly not be the woman I am today if it wasn't for you taking me on that silly walk in the park. I love you Another perfect location with a perfect couple getting ready to tie the knot.
